Remembering our Founding Father...
Our fearless founder, John Skrip Jr., unexpectedly left this world in August of 2020. We weren’t sure how our family or Clover Hill would carry on without his guidance and direction, but we quickly learned that blood is thicker than wine and loyalty runs deep. Our family, friends, and Clover Hill team rallied to make sure grapes are harvested, wine is crafted and customers are treated well.
John Skrip Jr. – we hope you’re looking down on us with pride and joy as we continue to carry out your dream. You are missed tremendously, but your presence is felt around us all.
It started with a dream...
and became a family tradition
It started with a dream, and became a family tradition.
In the 1970s, grape planting started as a hobby of John and Pat Skrip, founders of Clover Hill. That hobby quickly developed into a passion for producing wines they loved and wanted to share with others. In September 1985, Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery was born in Breinigsville, PA.
From its inception, Clover Hill has been all about family. After literally growing up in the vines, two of the Skrip children – John III and Kari – have become an integral part of the family business.
After earning a degree in enology at Fresno State University, California, John Skrip III joined Clover Hill as Winemaker. Under his care, the wine list continues to expand, offering new wines while maintaining a standard of excellence that has become a Clover Hill hallmark.
Kari Skrip joined Clover Hill after earning a degree in wine marketing at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Kari’s expertise in marketing, promotion, and distribution continues to introduce new customers to Clover Hill wines while protecting the integrity of her family’s passion and mission – providing premium wines in a relaxed, inviting winery atmosphere.
Over the years, both John III and Kari have seen their parents’ dream grow to include six vineyards spanning 80 acres in two counties – Berks and Lehigh – that produce 80,000 gallons of wine a year. They have a deep love for Clover Hill and the land they farm. The Skrip family and Clover Hill staff remain committed to continuing this dream that became a family tradition.
